Prime Video surpassed itself again, delighting fans with a sneak peek at the opening scene from The Wheel of Time Season 2 on WoT Wednesday, 2 August 2023.

Here’s the scoop – the first scene from the second season can now be watched at the end of the Season 1 finale. It is likely to be the cold open to Episode 1 and is all sorts of creepy.

Opening Scene from The Wheel of Time Season 2

Fantasy novels are sometimes suffixed with a prelude chapter from the next book, and that’s the tradition The Wheel of Time TV series tries to honor with a surprise addition to the Season 1 finale. The opening scene of Episode 201 appears seamlessly after watching Episode 8 of the show’s debut season.

But that’s not all. There’s a special connection to the source material, and it’s a treat for die-hard fans. The scene is a nifty adaptation of the iconic “Darkfriend Social” prologue from the second book, The Great Hunt. The narrative on the page is brilliant and as dangerously enchanting as a Shadar Logoth dagger.

The show will take a different route from the “Bors” point-of-view in the books, but it may still be iconic when all is said and done. We see a table of hooded Darkfriends from the point-of-view of a young girl who has sneaked under the meeting table. She’s entered the room because beast-like Trollocs are in the outside courtyard, and she is terrified.

Amongst the gathering are Aes Sedai, Whitecloaks, Tinkers, and Padan Fain (Johann Myers). Fares Fares’ character from Season 1 leads the meeting and is surprisingly gentle with the child. He leads the girl back outside, persuading her not to be afraid of him or the monsters. A Trolloc even allows the girl to stroke its face.

Highlights are Padan Fain’s creepy grin, trying to guess the identities of the attendees, and the chilling suspense as the Betrayer of Hope grooms the innocent girl.
