The Wheel of Time prequel is a hidden treasure of high fantasy, and I’m surprised that not all main series fans have read it. There is some mitigation for those who read the short-form version in the Legends anthology, but they will have missed out on Moiraine’s character arc and lots of extra treats.
So, if you haven’t read the novel, stick with this post and get a New Spring paperback today! I’ll introduce the book and its several editions and provide a choice of 5 different retailers.

About New Spring
New Spring was written by Robert Jordan and is a prequel novel for his hit fantasy book series, The Wheel of Time. It tells us how al’Lan Mandragoran became a Warder and how a Foretelling sparked Moiraine Damodred’s 20-year search for the Dragon Reborn.
Although events in New Spring occur before the main series, I recommend you save the prequel until after you’ve read The Eye of the World. However, it can be read as a standalone novel and is the beginning to the beginning of The Wheel of Time.
