This post has a complete list of Rosamund Pike audiobooks, so it isn’t restricted to fantasy fans or those simply looking for The Wheel of Time narrations done by her (though they’re here too, of course).

Rosamund Pike

Born in Hammersmith, London, Rosamund Pike isn’t just a world-famous actor. She’s also thrown her dramatic weight behind several audiobook projects.

The Wheel of Time

The actor stars as Moiraine Sedai in Prime Video’s adaptation of The Wheel of Time and is a producer for the show too. On the back of that, she has made audiobook recordings for the first 3 novels in Robert Jordan’s fantasy series.

Rosamund Pike’s reading of The Eye of the World, which was explored in Season 1 of the TV adaptation, has been available for a while now. The follow-up, The Great Hunt, which will be adapted in Season 2 of the show, was released in August 2022. Her version of the third book, The Dragon Reborn, became available on 6 June 2023.

I’ve been able to listen to Rosamund Pike’s narrations for The Eye of the World and The Great Hunt through my Audible subscription. She gives an enchanting rendition of the books, and clearly enjoys her narration.

The actor uses all the linguistic skills at her disposal – eloquent and clear pronunciation, deliberate pacing, and an articulation of the vocabulary that is reminiscent of her Moiraine Sedai portrayal – and brings brevity to The Wheel of Time series. It’s genuinely an effort to stop listening.

Acting Chops

Rosamund Pike is a widely known and respected actor and narrator. She’s a Golden Globe Award and Primetime Emmy Award winner and has been nominated for an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award.

I have high praise for the actor’s performance as Moiraine Damodred in The Wheel of Time TV series but, of course, she’s an accomplished movie star as well.

Film credits include Pride and Prejudice (2005), An Education (2009), Made In Dagenham (2010), Jack Reacher (2012), The World’s End (2013), Gone Girl (2014), A United Kingdom (2016), A Private War (2018), Beirut (2018), and I Care A Lot (2020).

I’ve provided links below for the individual audiobooks. They can also be obtained for 1 Audible credit. If you’re an Audible subscriber, you receive 1 credit each month.

The Eye of the World

When the village of Emond’s Field is attacked by Shadowspawn (creatures of the Dark One), the lives of Rand al’Thor and his friends are changed forever. They are taken under the wing of a powerful woman who can wield magic, an Aes Sedai by the name of Moiraine.

Moiraine is on a mission of her own, to find a man whose rebirth was Foretold twenty years ago. A man who is the Dragon Reborn, a prophesized hero who will save the world or destroy it.

The Eye of the World is written by Robert Jordan and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

The Great Hunt

The Great Hunt for the Horn of Valere is called, and adventurers from across the Westlands declare their plans to search for it. Rand al’Thor and his companions know the truth of the matter though. The legendary horn, which will summon dead heroes to follow whoever sounds it, has already been found.

However, it is stolen by Darkfriends during a Trolloc attack on the borderland city of Fal Dara. The hunt to retrieve the horn ensues but is fraught with danger. The powerful Forsaken are free of their prison, and a forgotten force is invading from across the Aryth Ocean. What hope is there for the Light?

The Great Hunt is written by Robert Jordan and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

The Dragon Reborn

The Dragon Reborn has proclaimed himself and intends to see the prophecies of the Dragon fulfilled. The stakes are high, and there’s no telling if he’ll be ready in time to face the Dark One at the Last Battle.

Rand al’Thor travels alone to the nation of Tear, hoping to claim “the sword that is not a sword” from its impregnable stone fortress. Moiraine and her party are in pursuit, encountering Darkhounds on the way. The Forsaken have taken root in the Westlands and the challenges facing the Dragon are his hardest yet.

The Dragon Reborn is written by Robert Jordan and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

Other Rosamund Pike Audiobooks

I’ve provided links below for Rosamund Pike’s audiobooks for other publications. I believe this to be a complete list, so please let me know if it’s not. The audiobooks can also be obtained through Audible.

The Magician’s Apprentice

Another fantasy series that should be of interest to The Wheel of Time fans.

Tessia is assistant to her father, the village Healer, though her mother would rather she find a husband. However, Tessia’s life takes a dramatic turn when she discovers a natural ability to use magic.

She finds herself apprenticed to the local magician and is about to discover the perils of magic. War is brewing, and magicians are divided, leading to an act of sorcery so severe that its effects will be felt for centuries.

The Magician’s Apprentice is written by Trudi Canavan and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

Pride and Prejudice (Audible Exclusive Production)

Revisiting Jane Austen’s classic after playing the older Bennet sister in the film adaptation, Rosamund Pike reads Pride and Prejudice.

Against the repressive backdrop of 19th-century England, the Bennet sisters discover love and the lessons of poor judgment. This is a thematically triumphant novel, that still has moral significance today.

Pride and Prejudice is written by Jane Austen and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

Sense and Sensibility (Audible Exclusive Production)

When their father leaves all his wealth to his son, the young Dashwood sisters are destitute and homeless. Elinor, who is sensible, and Marianne, who is more emotionally impulsive, find a new home with a distant relative. They experience romance, love, and heartbreak.

The book (which was published anonymously in three volumes) is a satire of sentimental novels that were popular in the late 18th / early 19th centuries.

Sense and Sensibility is written by Jane Austen, it’s her first published novel and is read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

The Spy Who Loved Me

Uniquely told from the point of view of a woman who needs James Bond’s help, The Spy Who Loved Me is still a typical 007 story with plenty of action and romance. It features two heinous villains who try to frame Vivienne Michel for the burning down of a motel she’s working at and ends with a dramatic shootout.

The Spy Who Loved Me is written by Ian Fleming and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook. It includes a bonus interview with the narrator.

A Slow Fire Burning

From the author of The Girl on the Train, A Slow Fire Burning is a Sunday Times number one best seller. A young man is murdered on a London boat and three damaged women become the main suspects. However, the truth is far more complicated than detectives think.

The book explores mental illness, age, and betrayal with a complex and tense plot that just never lets you go. Maintaining suspense to the very end, this thriller is a compelling read / listen that will undoubtedly shock you.

A Slow Fire Burning is written by Paula Hawkins and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

The Bolter

This is the true story of Lady Idina Sackville, a unique but tragic aristocrat who grew up in the early 20th century. Hers is a life of scandal.

Divorced by five husbands before the age of 63, Idina was known as “the Bolter” and it’s her great-granddaughter Frances Osborne who tells her biography. Sauced with promiscuity, drugs, and alcohol, the Bolter’s life is a shocking but brilliant read.

It’s a sad story when all is said and done, but Lady Idina Sackville earns her notoriety.

The Bolter is written by Frances Osborne and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

Restless

William Boyd tells this espionage story in both the first and third person, and changes between time periods too.

Ruth’s mother Sally is not the English gentlewoman people think she is. In fact, she’s Russian and a former spy for the British Secret Service. Now Sally, or Eva in truth, needs Ruth’s help for one final assignment.

Restless is written by William Boyd and read by Rosamund Pike for the audiobook.

The Hours (Dramatization for BBC Radio 4)

This is BBC Radio 4’s full-cast dramatization of Michael Cunningham’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book, The Hours, adapted for radio by Frances Byrnes.

It is about three women living in different places and eras who are connected by a love for Virginia Woolf’s novel Mrs. Dalloway. They share similar thoughts and experiences as their social ritual entwines them. The drama explores themes of love, friendship, loss, loneliness, guilt, bisexuality, domestic tension, and storytelling.

The Hours is adapted for radio by Frances Byrnes and directed by Judith Kampfner (who also produces) and Polly Thomas. The Hours stars Fenella Woolgar, Rosamund Pike, and Teresa Gallagher.
